Rufus Hound ended up quitting the ITV2 quiz show – which features Holly Willoughby and Fearne Cotton as panellists – five years ago, and he spoke out about the fact that an explosive row with Kim – who caused chaos on the latest series of Celebrity Big Brother – drove him to breaking point.
Speaking on a podcast with Richard Herring back in 2013, Rufus said that he had an argument with Kim while filming the show, but the whole thing, unsurprisingly, never made it to air.
Rufus explained: “She [Kim] was chatting away to Keith Lemon and he asked her: ‘Have you got much coming up?’
“She said, ‘I don’t think the people who make TV would want me anymore.’ And I said, genuinely, honestly, ‘Don’t do yourself down. People will always need a cleaner.'”
The comedian added: “She looked at me and said something on the lines of, ‘When I want an opinion of a fat man, I’ll stand outside Gregg’s.’
“It was a proper f*** you, an old-fashioned f*** you, and I just sort of laughed to myself that here she was having a dig because I genuinely hadn’t meant it as an insult. It really f***ing spiralled out of control.”
Rufus went on to say that the incident “ended up being really horrible” as she “was deliberately being personal”.
He continued: “She basically kept saying I was fat. But I did end up saying, ‘That’s a bit rich coming from a woman who looks like a face drawn on a deflating party balloon’.”
Rufus also added that he demanded to be given a copy of the tape from the episode, but bosses refused to give it to him.
The comedian’s unearthed interview comes after Kim insisted that “she was a nice person” despite Phillip not being so sure on yesterday’s This Morning.
Kim said, as Phillip quizzed her on her controversial CBB antics: “I think I am a nice person. Ask the crew, everyone.”
However, keen to stir things even further, the silver-haired host raged: “But I know the row you had on Celebrity Juice!”
This Morning airs weekdays at 10.30am on ITV.
