I'm A Celebrity 2017: Amir Khan BLASTED over controversial remarks 'Really angry'

The ITV series continued tonight with a Bushtucker trial for Iain Lee, but the radio DJ was left in tears after he had to withdraw from the task.

Viewers took to social media following the broadcast to rant that Amir’s comments were “totally wrong”.

As Iain cried and went off to sleep for half an hour, Amir said: “It’s hard that. I don’t like to see men cry. For a man to cry, he must be f****d. He’s had enough. Man’s not meant to cry.”

Georgia “Toff” Toffolo jumped to Iain’s defence, replying: “No, I think it’s okay for men to cry. I really do. I think it’s important for men to be able to express their feelings.”

When asked the last time he had cried, Amir replied that he would have been around 13-years-old and didn’t cry when his baby was born.

Amir continued: “I don’t know why. It’s really bad when you don’t cry. Like, I want to cry sometimes but i just can’t. You know what, I hold it in. I get really upset and just deal with it then I’ll just get on with something else.”

Rebekah Vardy agreed with Amir, adding: “I hate crying. I think that when I cry it shows a sign of weakness.”

Amir added: “That’s why I don’t do it as well. It shows weakness and then people will walk all over you. Never show weakness,” before Jamie Lomas sided with Toff and explained that it’s not a weakness to cry.

One fan of the show tweeted: “Did Amir just say men aren’t meant to cry? Men are humans, they can cry. Crying shows strength not weakness. And you’re hardly a rock Amir, we’ve all watched you screaming at various small animals. #ImACeleb.”

“Really angry with what Amir said.. Men don’t cry. I’m so glad they brought up mental health issues associated with it. #ImACelebِ,” posted another, as a third said: “My opinion has definitely changed on Amir because men should cry and it definitely isn’t a weakness. Suicide is the leading cause of male death, crying doesn’t make you weak #ImACeleb.”

A fourth added: “Very annoyed about Amir Khan saying men shouldn’t cry. Of course they should. They’re nothing wrong with crying at all and men should cry if they need to #ImACeleb.”

Some agreed with Amir and believed the majority of viewers had misunderstood, tweeting: “Amir Khan said he felt men couldn’t cry and that he had to hide his emotions, he wasn’t ridiculing men crying. Listen! #ImACelebrity2017,” as another noted: “Public: ‘men can cry you sexist pig!’ Amir Khan screams. Public: ‘you wimp u scream like a girl.’ #ImACeleb.”

continues tomorrow on at 9pm.
