Horizon Zero Dawn reviews inbound as PS4 release date pre-load goes LIVE

Many Horizon Zero Dawn reviews have been released way ahead of the game’s release date, however, even more will be coming soon now that the Pre-Load is on the cards.

For those outside the UK, The Horizon Zero Dawn unlock time is set for February 27, at 9pm PST on the PlayStation Store.

The Zero Dawn pre-load times has been confirmed to start 48hrs before the game launches.

However, some fans are reporting that the pre-load appears to have gone live a little early in different areas of the globe, with the download size around 40GB.

It’s currently unclear if these details are the same for UK players, who have a longer wait time to play the new PS4 exclusive.

Horizon Zero Dawn is scheduled to arrive in the UK on March 1, so we imagine that the 48hr pre-load rule still applies.

It could be that with the time different included, Horizon Zero Dawn will be available to start downloading in the UK on February 28, at around 5am.

Horizon also features a dynamic connversation system that will shape the lead character’s personality and shape key events.

Then there’s the day/night cycle and weather system, which will alter the way players approach certain situations, as well as a photo mode and lots more.

It may be packing lots of features, but is it any good? Check out Express Online’s review round-up to find out…

IGN – 9.3/10: “Across a vast and beautiful open world, Horizon Zero Dawn juggles many moving parts with polish and finesse. Its main activity – combat – is extremely satisfying thanks to the varied design and behaviours of machine-creatures that roam its lands, each of which needs to be taken down with careful consideration. Though side questing could have been more imaginative, its missions are compelling thanks to a central mystery that led me down a deep rabbit hole to a genuinely surprising – and moving – conclusion.”

GamesRadar – 4.5/5: “Like a real ecosystem, Horizon: Zero Dawn is brilliantly balanced. Aloy feels like an inextricable part of it, halfway between prey and predator. Whether you’re climbing cliff-faces with a weightless, fluid joy, hunting, or travelling through the landscape, Horizon: Zero Dawn takes you on a tour of discovery. An endless sense of wonder and awe push you onward no matter what you’re doing. The more time I spend in Horizon: Zero Dawn’s world, the less I want to leave.”

The Guardian – 4/5: “Horizon: Zero Dawn falls short of the seminal status to which it so clearly aspires but it’s still an immensely playable – and likeable – romp with a core combat mechanic worth the price of purchase alone. And given a Marvel-style post-credits sequence suggests a sequel is very much in the works, Guerrilla will be given another shot at genuine greatness. Provided, of course, a real-world apocalypse doesn’t Trump their imagined one in the meantime.”

Trusted Reviews – 4.5/5: “I didn’t expect Horizon Zero Dawn to be this good. I doubt I’ll be the only one saying they were surprised that the Killzone developer has been able to deliver a game with such breadth, depth and consistently rewarding gameplay.

“Couple all of that with a compelling story led by an engaging lead protagonist and you have a brilliant game, an absolute must-buy for all PS4 owners.

“Those with a PS4 Pro and an HDR TV will find an even more beautiful experience on offer, but everybody who plays Horizon: Zero Dawn is in for an absolute treat.”
