The debate came after China introduced pink parking spaces decorated with giant black heels made especially for women, and are 50 per cent larger than traditional bays.
Rae Martin appeared on This Morning where she couldn’t have been more enthusiastic about the move.
“Cars have just got a lot bigger,” she said. “I’m just rubbish.”
Phillip Schofield chipped in: “But that’s you personally, but do you think women as a whole?”
“Don’t you think, though, this is sexism?” asked Holly Willoughby.
Rae enthused: “I just think, ‘Thank you for giving me a bigger parking space, it’s going to keep my premium insurance down.”
Motoring journalist Jess Shanahan vehemently disagreed, fuming: “There are people who do park well and there are people that don’t. The stereotypes that women don’t park well doesn’t need to be furthered by those spaces.”
Putting the battle of the sexes to the test, Holly and Phillip performed a reverse park with Rae and Jess both predicting who would come out on top.
Jess rooted for Holly, because of “girl power”, while Rae banked on Phillip’s “age” to come out on top.
Shutting down Rae and those doubting female parkers, Holly triumphed and didn’t hold back.
“Also, I did that wearing heels thank you very much,” she teased.
Thankfully, they recorded the compete before today’s This Morning because later the duo helped themselves to a selection of various rums.
“Welcome back,” Phillip beamed. “We’re drinking rum which is quite interesting as we have quite an important visit after the show today.”
This Morning will be welcoming Prince Charles and Camilla Parker-Bowels into the ITV studio today for a special edition of the show to air tomorrow.
Holly grumbled: “This was a bad idea,” before comically gasping: “I love you!”
“Don’t do it,” Phillip grinned.
This Morning airs weekdays at 10.30am on ITV.
