Holly Willoughby left SHOCKED as The Loch star asks: ‘I thought you were blacking up’

The 36-year-old star was left with her jaw on the floor during an interview with the stars of The Loch: Laura Fraser and Don Gilet.

She and Phillip, 55, could not contain their shock after Don, 50, suggested that the This Morning presenting duo had “blacked up” to make him “feel welcome” on the show.

The moment happened while they were talking about the cast and the crew trying to deal with midges in The Highlands while filming.

Don was heard explaining to his 40-year-old co-star Laura: “The whole crew wore nets from head to toe. The funny thing is they weren’t there the whole time, it’s like someone nudged them and they’ve gone, ‘Oh, there’s a film crew over there. Let’s go and bug them!’”

While her attention was distracted, the ITV stars donned black hats with netted masks to protect them from midges.

When Laura turned around to the pair, she burst into stitches and she jumped after she saw what they were wearing.

Holly told them: “I actually bought these for you because there is no doubt this is going to be a huge success.”

As Phillip exclaimed: “I love the fact that you were looking in a different direction when you turned back!”

It was then that Don quipped: “I thought you were blacking up, I didn’t know what you were doing. I thought you were making me feel welcome.”

Although the This Morning twosome tried to laugh it off, they seemed rather shocked as Phillip said: “Oh my god!”

The Loch, which is starting this Sunday, follows a gruesome murder mystery that has been described as the Highlands answer to Broadchurch.

Police detectives Annie Redford (played by Laura) and Lauren Quigley (Siobhan Finneran) take on the case after a series of brutal killings rock the small Scottish community to its core. Meanwhile, Don plays forensics expert Blake Albrighton in the new ITV drama.

Speaking about The Loch and her character, the Breaking Bad star said: “Suddenly this close-knit community is ripped apart by this series of murders that happen very quickly and the whole town is left devastated and frightened and suspicious of each other.

“But it starts off when she turns up and she’s hungover on the shores of Loch Ness. She thinks it’s a prank and has it all cleared away, but later realises she’s made a huge mistake. At the age of 40 she’s never worked on a murder case.”

Laura added: “She’s desperate to prove herself to Siobhan Finneran’s character in that way that you can be quite annoying, I think she is a bit annoyed by her. But then they become friends towards the end. She ends up bringing in evidence and proves herself.”

This Morning airs weekdays on ITV at 10.30am.
