The reality star was heard off camera, unaware that his microphone was still switched on, fuming after dropping a piece of fruit.
While hosts Holly Willoughby, 36, and Phillip Schofield, 54, tried to brush the blunder under the carpet, This Morning viewers were in hysterics.
“OH MY GOD! When the sound messes up on @thismorning and you can hear @JoeyEssex saying ‘f***ing s**t,” bellowed one audience member, as another chuckled: “Who left @JoeyEssex’s mic on on #thismorning. Dropping the F bomb over Phil and Holly at 11am, good work!”
This particularly amused fan giggled: “Mic issues on #thismorning @thismorning Joey Essex is the background definitely said ‘f***ing s**t’ sack the sound man! Hilarious,” which was followed by: “Awkward. They left Joey Essex’s microphone on on #ThisMorning and you could hear him say ‘This is f***ing s**t’. Daytime TV is never boring.”
One more teased: “Joey Essex definitely just said f***ing s**t on @thismorning haha someone’s getting a b*****king,” before a sixth cried: “That’s the best mic mishap since ‘that bigoted woman’ hahaha if your mic’d up… assume you can be heard!”
While Gino D’Campo scrambled around the This Morning studio, comically venting about finding an ashtray, Phillip intervened: “Can we still hear Joey Essex chatting away?”
Holly was forced to address the unfortunate blunder and told viewers: “Just in case anyone heard Joey Essex off camera just then, we apologise. He didn’t know his microphone was on.”
Elsewhere on the ITV programme, the ex-wife of Sky presenter Richard Keys gave an alarming warning to viewers noticing the signs of your partner having an affair.
This Morning airs weekdays at 10.30am on ITV.
