GTA 5 Gun Running DLC: First look reveals epic new weaponised vehicles and bases

The new GTA 5 Gun Running DLC is being released next month and will allow fans to buy new bases that will unlock special missions and vehicles.

These missions look set to mimic the already-established Biker Gang and CEO mechanics, albeit with one major twist.

The new Gun Running DLC will also have massive new APCs and vehicle upgrades that’s going to turn online into a serious clash of gangs.

“While sharply dressed CEOs trade Special Cargo from lavish air conditioned suites, and leather-clad Bikers own the roadways moving illicit consumer goods; new opportunities are opening in a highly lucrative and equally malicious network hidden underground ripe for takeover by the VIPs, CEOs, and Biker bosses of Los Santos and Blaine County.

“Southern San Andreas’ illegal weapons trafficking industry rises to the surface in Gunrunning, a massive new update coming this June to GTA Online.”

The new bases of operations for the Gun Running escapades are called hatches and will spread across all of Blaine County.

These new bases will earn you access to “new military grade vehicles and weapons manufacturing equipment capable of developing highly sought after offensive and defensive technologies.”

Full-service Mobile Operation Centers are also set to be included and will be fully customisable with paint jobs and weaponry.

Other details include:

  • Target practice and gun ranges areas supplied as part of the Hatches purchase.
  • The Tampa is getting a fully weaponized upgrade
  • New military grade vehicles could mean that other existing cars are also getting the revamp treatment
  • The APC will be available to buy and is equipped to handle all terrain and water

Rockstar say they’ll be releasing more information on the new GTA 5 Online update in the coming weeks.

Parent publisher Take-Two Interactive recently confirmed that more GTA 5 updates are being worked, meaning more content is likely to follow the Gunrunning DLC.

During a company’s earnings report, CEO Strauss Zelnick confirmed that the title continued to “outperform [Take-Two’s] expectations during the fourth quarter quarter as they have in every period since they released.”

Zelnick also added that year-over-year growth in recurrent spending is still moving at an impressive pace, with “much more” still planned in terms of future updates.

It’s understandable that Take-Two would want to see more content created for GTA 5 Online, not only have they seen a big gap open in their release schedule but they also have a game that keeps selling well.

It was revealed today that GTA 5 has now shipped 80 million units worldwide and it looks like 5m more copies were sold between now and February.
