The 34-year-old, who has bagged herself a spot in the semi-final of the Channel 4 baking competition, has revealed that Steven’s first victory on the show was edited.
Speaking to Radio Times about the incident, she divulged: “It got the first Hollywood handshake on the show.
“On TV it was edited so it looked like Steven got the first one but it was actually me.”
“It was a relief because I wasn’t the most experienced baker,” she continued.
The army officer, who lives in Surrey, added that her time in the military helped her to prepare to for the pressure in the tent.
“The skills required to work through a high-pressure situation are exactly the same,” Sophie explained.
“The only different is no one will die if you muck up your cake… unless you muck it up really badly!”
Meanwhile, Sophie’s competitor Steven said he has found it hard to constantly impress judges Paul and Prue Leith with his bakes.
He told the publication: “Paul did say to me, ‘You’ve set your own bar higher than anyone else’s’.”
But the 34-year-old, who works in social media, hasn’t just put pressure on himself to improve week on week.
“A couple of the other contestants told me I pushed them to try harder, which was nice to hear,” Steven said.
