Grantchester season four is back on ITV and fans have been thoroughly enjoying the new series.
Last week saw Grantchester residents finally say goodbye to their beloved vicar Sidney Chambers (James Norton).
He left the show last week, and it was a sad moment with fans were begging for him to return.
However, this week saw fans delighted by the fact that Leonard (Al Wearer) was given a bigger role in the parish.
He was made the interim vicar of Grantchester and started to help Detective Geordie Keating (Robson Green) in his investigation.
Fans seemed to enjoy this new pairing, and they took to Twitter to comment on it.
One viewer wrote: “Whoever wrote this episode of Grantchester has excelled themselves #grantchester absolutely hilarious in all the right places Al Weaver is so talented.”
Another said: “Why don’t they just stick with Geordie and Leonard? They make a good team #grantchester.”
“I love how Mrs. C is with Leonard. ‘Have another sausage if you’re fighting crimes’,” wrote another viewer.
A third said: “Leonard is actually rather good at this detecting lark. Surprisingly good. I do hope he won’t be pushed aside again. He deserves his moment in the limelight.”
“I’m going to miss Sidney. 🙁 #Grantchester,” another sobbed.
A third begged: “He can’t go yet, not yet… #Grantchester.”
While a fourth pleaded: “Nooo Sidney Please don’t go @jginorton #Grantchester.”
“Tonight’s #Grantchester is the last one with Sidney. At least there’s a nice handsome young vicar to replace him!” a fifth said, in an attempt to see the silver lining.
Grantchester continues Fridays at 9pm on ITV.
