Richard, 61, is filling in for Piers Morgan this week on Good Morning Britain.
He came face-to-face with I’m A Celebrity finalist Iain, 44, who admitted to some “mean comments” he had made in the past.
Susanna Reid started: “We’ve just realised this is the first time Iain has met Richard Madeley and it’s causing quite a stir.”
Iain admitted: “I was very rude and really mean about you and your family on the 11 O’Clock Show.
“I was really proud of the 11 O’Clock Show but it had a really mean tone and I’m very sorry.”
Richard graciously accepted Iain’s good-will, just explaining it was “showbiz” and he was not to worry about it.
He then giggled: “But can you leave now?”
Iain laughed back: “That will be the second show I have walked off in a month.”
Later on during the entertainment section, talk turned to the upcoming Spice Girls reunion and Richard confessed he once dressed up as Geri Halliwell’s Ginger Spice.
Iain didn’t seem to want to see the pictures and laughed awkwardly at the thought.
Piers’ stand in went on to explain how “sexy” Jonathan Ross was when he dressed in a similar way.
Iain, looking horrified by the thought, demanded to know when Piers was coming back.
