Good Morning Britain interview with Barry Manilow savaged by viewers: ‘Absolute car crash’

Adil and Kate Garraway seemed thrilled to be joined by Barry Manilow via video link on Good Morning Britain to talk about his career. But technical errors and awkward moments overshadowed Barry’s interview as he tried in vain to promote his music and upcoming tour.

Starting the chat, Adil asked: “How do you keep going? It’s amazing.”

“Wait a minute, did you mention Flashy Lady?” Barry replied.

Adil continued: “Yeah, yeah I did. Do you still play it?”

As Barry revealed he doesn’t, the morning show began to play the track in the background.

“It’s all about the public, it’s all about the people out there,” Barry commented. “If they want me, they’ve given me this unbelievable life, this unbelievable career. As long as they come out, I’ll be there.’

Kate continued: “You’re coming to the UK in May as I understand. What do you make of…?”

But before she could continue, Barry jumped in to hold up a tour poster and read out the cities he would be visiting.

It wasn’t long before viewers took to Twitter to comment on the interview, with some many slamming the series.

One viewer commented: “Barry Manilow is being interviewed on GMB at the moment and it’s absolute car crash stuff. He doesn’t seem to have a clue what day it is and looks like he’s about to start melting.”

Another added: “#Gmb most awkward interview of all time. Stupid lines of questioning. One of the interviewers is clearly a fanboy. It’s ridiculous and embarrassing.”

“Jesus every interview Kate is involved with is literally car crash lovely on the jungle and seems a lovely lady but she talks to much surely they have learned with yanky satalite interviews #GMB (sic),” a third shared.

Someone else posted: “@GMB Are these presenters not taught about delay??!! OMG. Stop talking over each other and laughing awkwardly, it makes it worse!!! Just terrible!!”

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays on ITV at 6am.
