The controversial ITV broadcaster, 52, regularly voices his frustration over views about the use of gender neutral pronouns, and this morning was no exception as he latched on to a newspaper article about former Government mental health tsar Natasha Devon.
“This headline says, ‘Stop calling pupils girls’ – when they’re girls,” he read. “‘It reminds them of their gender.’
“‘Girls’ schools should not refer to pupils as girls or ladies because it means they’re constantly reminded of their gender.'”
Piers Morgan was visibly angered by Natasha’s statements, made to head teachers at leading girls’ schools across the country, and proceeded to rant about her encouraging the use of gender neutral terms for students while she was identified as ‘Ms Devon’ in the article.
“‘Ms Devon’, do you get that?” he fumed. “She’s called ‘Ms Devon’ but you can’t call anybody else ‘boy’ or ‘girl’. Why aren’t you gender neutral, Ms Devon?”
His co-host Susanna Reid, 46, remained silent through his monologue, staring straight down the camera before taking a deep breath, asking sarcastically: “Are we going to be here long, Piers Morgan?
“Talk amongst yourselves,” she added, as the Good Morning Britain host continued with his argument, blasting: “This is the way it’s all going isn’t it, you can’t call girls ‘girls’, boys ‘boys’, yet she remains Ms Devon.”
Both Susanna and Charlotte Hawkins, 42, attempted to stop Piers in his tracks and calm his tirade as he soldiered on, ignoring their interjections.
He even hit out at the pair for being “virtue-signalling clowns”, accusing them of agreeing with his view but being afraid to say it.
“We can’t even get a word in edgeways,” Susanna said, as Charlotte exclaimed: “What did you just say?!”
As he appeared to get carried away, Piers even started responding to remarks in his earpiece from the GMB director, at which point Susanna laughed: “You’re speaking to the voices in your head again.
“You are going out of your mind,” she added.
Good Morning Britain airs weekdays at 6am on ITV.
