Glastonbury 2017: JEREMY CORBYN is surprise addition to Pyramid Stage line-up

He will address the masses after being introduced by Michael Eavis, 81, the founder of the popular event.

The Labour Party leader will then introduce US rap duo Run The Jewels to the stage.

“We’re Jeremy Corbyn fans, that’s the thing,” Eavis told the Guardian.

“He’s got something new and precious, and people are excited about it. He really is the hero of the hour.”

Run The Jewels are well known Stateside for their left-wing politics, and were vocal supporters of Bernie Sanders during last year’s race tot he White House.

Member EL-P reacted on Twitter: “that thing where you wake up, get stoned and check twitter only to find out jeremy corbyn is introducing you at glasto #word???”

Emily Eavis, Michael’s daughter, is also a fan of Corbyn, who defied expectations to scupper Theresa May’s Commons majority in last week’s General Election.

“It’s great to see somebody who’s engaging young people so much,” she beamed.

“It’s been a really full-on few years, culminating in Brexit and Trump. It felt like the whole world was shifting dramatically to the right.

“I think that this is a breath of fresh air – people are like, ‘No, enough, we’re not going to let it happen.’”

Run the Jewels are expected on the Pyramid Stage at 4.15pm on Sunday, 24 June.

John McDonnell, Billy Bragg and Yanis Varoufakis are also expected to speak at the festival.

Earlier this week, Emily Eavis revealed how much artists are paid to appear – and it’s nowhere near as much as you might expect.

The headliners of this year’s Glastonbury include Radiohead, Foo Fighters and Ed Sheeran.

The likes of The xx, Katy Perry, The National, Chic, Barry Gibb, Royal Blood and Jools Holland are also due on the Pyramid Stage.

On the Other Stage will be the likes of Major Lazer, Lorde, George Ezra, Halsey, Alt-J, Stormzy, Liam Gallagher and Emeli Sande.

Haim, Shaggy, Solange, Dizzee Rascal, Kate Tempest, Clean Bandit and Goldfrapp are also in attendance.

Run The Jewels have released three albums since 2013 – the most recent of which, brought out on Christmas Eve last year – was their most successful to date.

It impacted the UK Top 40 and US Top 20 upon its release, the first of their releases to do so.
