Battle Princess Madelyn, the Ghosts N’ Goblins-like game from Causal Bit Games, is just killing stretch goals, having tripled their asking amount on Kickstarter. And rightfully so, as their take on the formula, which injects one of the developers’ daughters into the sidescrolling action game, was a blast when I played it a long while back, and is only looking better now (which you can tell for yourself by trying the demo on the Kickstarter).

Also, as developers of the awesome, bloody sidescoller Insanity’s Blade, I already know how good their final products can be.

Battle Princess Madelyn stars Madelyn, a young girl who must save her kidnapped parents and avenge her dog, Fritzy, against an evil wizard. She’ll have to cross stages with zombies, monsters, giant skeletal knights, and other huge beasts while keeping her armor on, as one good knock will blast the plate mail off her, leaving her in her PJs. Luckily, the game features a reviving system based on how many enemies Madelyn kills, so dying isn’t as big of a risk in this one. Unless you screw up a lot when it starts getting really hard, that is.

On top of having ten levels with up to five stages each, hidden collectibles and routes, and a switchable soundtrack with chiptune music from Gryzor87 *Maldita Castilla) and orchestral tunes from John McCarthy (Nintendo Quest), Battle Princess Madelyn has just been getting more and more content with its stretch goals. An arcade mode that boosts the challenge, a new boss rush, more side quests, more enemies, more stages, and just more everything have been unlocked. It’s an interesting game that just keeps growing.

And it’s the dawn of the final day. It’ll be interesting to see how far Battle Princess Madelyn goes.
