Generation Game: Sue Perkins left shaken after Danny Dyer 'fights' contestant

Mel Giedroyc and Sue Perkins returned to host the family friendly game show that many will remember Sir leading.

With big prizes to be won on the conveyor belt, former hosts decided to draft in actor Danny Dyer for a bit of help.

Four family pairs from different generations battled it out in games including cake decorating, balloon modelling and dancing the Argentine tango with Latin legends Vincent Simone and Flavia Cacace.

However, it was Danny’s fight sketch that ended in trouble.

The actor is well used to fight scenes after playing the Queen Vic’s landlord Mick Carter in EastEnders.

Danny was taking part in a sketch called Scene Stealers.

Dressed in a yellow and green costume, Danny was billed as “the world’s greatest superhero – Super Dan”.

He said: “Which one of you melts is on the rob? Is this a bank liberty?

“I’ve only popped in here to spend some money from my swear jar. 16 grand. And I could right do without the agg.”

He then partook in a slow-motion fight and pretended to hit the contestants over the head in comic style.

However, one particular battle prompted contestant Ian to swing his head backwards and resulted in Sue getting a whack on the head.

The knock was so hard that it caused Sue’s wig to fall slightly.

Sue said: “Well, that was deeply in character. That’s all I’ll say.”

Danny later said to Ian: “I would have forgiven the splits. But you can’t nut Sue! You can’t do that!”

Fans of the show instantly took to social media.

One viewer tweeted: “Brilliant Superhero sketch! @sueperkins @MelGiedroycTV @MrDDyer Laughed so much it hurt!! Hope the heads ok Sue!! #generationgame.”

“Hmmm. Danny Dyer not a whole lot better than the contestants! #generationgame,” posted another.

A third added: “#generationgame I just watched it and was expecting it to be rubbish because it doesn’t have Bruce presenting it anymore.

“I was really mistaken. The first episode was really hilarious from start to finish and I was laughing my head off at the superhero sketch. Sue and Mel <3.”

Mel and Sue were also joined by star panellists Melvin Odoom and Roisin Conaty for the series finale.

The Generation Game is available to watch on the  iPlayer now.
