It was recently revealed Emilia Clarke, who plays Daenerys Targaryen, had already filmed her character’s last scene in the hugely-popular HBO show Game of Thrones, and she hinted at a controversial ending to the Mother of Dragons.
Joe Dempsie (Gendry) and Hannah Murray (Gilly) are two characters on vastly different journeys in the fantasy drama, having never crossed paths.
Gilly has firmly remained by her partner Samwell Tarly’s (John Bradley) side since she was introduced, while Gendry disappeared in a rowing boat at the end of the third series.
Having just learned he was actually the heir of King Robert Baratheon (Mark Addy), Gendry was nowhere to be seen until his shock reappearance at the end of season seven.
Yet the show’s final six episodes could see the pair suddenly having scenes together if the filming schedules are anything to go by.
Speaking about her emotional final scenes on the show, Hannah revealed: “I’ve finished. I’ve shot all my scenes. The final day was definitely very emotional because you’re having to say goodbye to a lot of people.
“I feel so lucky to have been a part of the show for so long,” she told fan-site Winter is Coming.
The former Skins actress may have confirmed an interaction with Deep State actor Joe with a tantalising hint at Gilly’s final arc.
“There are a few from season eight that I can’t actually mention,” she shared.
The Gendry star went on to echo his co-star’s deep feelings about the project, which has completely changed the lives of many of the cast.
“I finished last week for good,” Joe shared at the Con of Thrones in Texas. “It’s a very strange feeling actually.
“There have been people who have been finished periodically over the past month or so, and even watching other people finish was quite emotional at times.
“I thought I was all right, I thought I was going to be fine. And then I happened to be finishing on the same day as a few other actors as well.
Admitting his struggles not to cry on-set, Joe continued: “When they did my little bit I was fine, but it was when they got to the other people that I lost it a little bit.
“I’m fine until I see someone else trying not to cry, at which point I’m done,” he added.
When Daenerys star Emilia shared her feelings on the fiery Targaryen’s final scene, she admitted it was a difficult thing to process.
“It f****d me up,” she bluntly revealed.
The Solo: A Star Wars Story star added to this month’s Vanity Fair magazine: “Knowing that is going to be a lasting flavour in someone’s mouth of what Daenerys is…”
Her revealing comments are a worry for fans, possibly pointing the finger at a terrible act in the queen’s last moments.
Game of Thrones season eight concludes on HBO and Sky Atlantic in 2019.
