Game of Thrones season 8 spoilers: Stars ‘in tears’ as tragic major deaths are exposed

Game of Thrones draws to a close next year when it airs its eighth and final series, and as deaths have been a prominent feature of the HBO drama, the last instalment is bound to be a bloodbath.

However, it has been revealed by a HBO boss that the cast were moved to tears at a read through where they learned of the tragedies to come for their characters.

Speaking at the INTV conference in Israel this week, HBO’s senior vice president of drama Francesca Orsi spoke about the final table read of the show.

She said: “It was a really powerful moment in our lives and our careers.

“None of the cast had received the scripts prior, and one by one they started falling down to their deaths.

“By the end, the last few words on the final script, the tears just started falling down. Then there was applause that lasted 15 minutes.”

The statement also hold something more ominous as it could hint toward a death for every single character in the series.

While fans were certainly expecting some fatalities, they will be shocked to learn that everyone could end up six feet under.

The news follows speculation that Arya Stark (played by Maisie Williams) will die in a heartbreaking twist.

One theory from a fan forum suggests Gendry (Joe Demise) is the fabled Azor Ahai, who will end up killing Arya.

Reddit user ascott767 mused: “So for all intents and purposes, Gendry is a prince.

“Now, it’s told that Azor Ahai must forge his weapon by killing someone he/she loved with it so this theory is that in season eight, Gendry and Arya will have a bunch of flirtations that turn out to be love.

“Jon, Dany, and the dragons all die leaving Gendry to lead with Davos and Jaime advising him.

“Jon legitimises Gendry from his deathbed. Gendry will kill Arya fulfilling the prophecy and making him Azor Ahai reborn.

“Gendry defeats the Night King and his army and becomes King of Westeros.”

Game of Thrones returns to Sky Atlantic in 2019.
