Game of Thrones season eight is only a few weeks away and fans are desperate for clues and spoilers about how the show will end and who will take the Iron Throne in the HBO series. Sky Atlantic, which will air Game of Thrones in the UK, has recently released a video in which key cast members like Arya Stark (played by Maisie Williams), Sansa Stark (Sophie Turner), and Brienne of Tarth (Gwendoline Christie) all drop clues about the potential ending of the series. Tyrion Lannister (Peter Dinklage) and Sansa could be taking the Throne at the end of the Sky and HBO show if the new video is to be believed.
In the Sky Atlantic video, cast members were asked who they wanted to see as King or Queen of the Seven Kingdoms.
The video starts with Maisie Williams and Sophie Turner both pointing at the latter.
Isaac Hempstead Wright concurs with this, saying: “I’d like to see a Stark on there.”
The Bran Stark actor adds: “I think Sansa would be a pretty cool queen.”
WILL JAIME AND BRIENNE HAVE A ROMANCE IN GAME OF THRONES SEASON 8?
However, Bran himself is the bookies’ favourite, with BetVictor offering even odds for him to end up on the Iron Throne.
Maisie Williams said of Sansa’s eligibility for the Throne: “She’s got to where she is and not played any really dirty games.”
Another popular choice to take the Iron Throne is Tyrion Lannister.
Jerome Flynn, who plays Bronn in the HBO show said of him: “I think Tyrion’s gone through a transformation.”
The Hound actor Rory McCann also punts for The Imp to rule the Kingdoms.
However, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, who plays Jaime Lannister, casts doubt on this by saying: “Have you noticed that everything he’s done has gone to s***?”
Then again, that has never stopped equally ill-suited people from taking the Throne in the past.
Fans on the Freefolk Reddit think this is a reference to Tyrion meeting a sticky end in Game of Thrones season eight.
One wrote: “NCW singlehandedly (pun intended) starting the foreshadowing before the show’s even aired.”
Fans also think that Sansa’s strong showing in this video rules her out of taking power in the final series.
One wrote: “I think Sophie, Maisie, and Isaac saying outright they want Sansa pretty much guarantees that’s off the table.”
However, another thinks Maisie’s body language gives the game away.
They commented: “I love how Maisie touches her face first and then points to Sophie. The lie detector says deceptive!”
Game of Thrones season 8 airs Monday, April 15 on Sky Atlantic.
