Who died in Game of Thrones season 8, episode 3?

Eddison Tollett (Ben Crompton)

First to go in the latest episode of Game of Thrones was Edd Tollett.

In saving his fellow Night Watchman, Samwell Tarly (John Bradley), he was stabbed in the back.

Lyanna Mormont (Bella Ramsey)

Next to die was the Lady of Bear Island as she was crushed to death by an Ice Giant.

Later in the episode, she was brought to life again by the Night King, only to die again following the disintegration of the super villain.

Lord Beric Dondarrion (Richard Dormer)

After surviving five deaths, Lord Beric’s final stand was during the Battle of Winterfell.

He was stabbed multiple times by wights while protecting Arya Stark (Maisie Williams), despite him at one point featuring on her death list.

Theon Greyjoy (Alfie Allen)

In Game of Thrones season eight, episode three, Theon was tasked with protecting Bran (Isaac Hempstead-Wright), who he had formerly pretended to have burned alive when he took Winterfell.

Theon’s last stand was heroically trying to fight the Night King when the latter arrived to take the life of the Three-Eyed Raven.

Ser Jorah Mormont (Iain Glen)

Hot on the heels of Theon’s death came the murder of Jorah, who was stabbed by wights while protecting his great love Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke).

One of the episode’s final scenes saw Dany crying over the corpse of her former advisor.

The Night King (Vladimir Furdik)

Multiple GoT characters had their go at taking on The Night King in the Battle of Winterfell.

First Daenerys Targaryen tried to kill him with dragon fire, then Jon Snow attempted to take him on in single combat but had to flee when the Night King resurrected the fallen.

However, just as the Night King was about to kill Bran under the Weirwood tree, Arya attacked, and successfully stabbed the leader of the army of the dead in the gut, causing him to shatter into ice.

Viserion

With the Night King’s death, his entire army was also destroyed.

This included not only the reanimated Lyanna, but the ice dragon Viserion, who died just as he was about to kill Jon Snow (Kit Harrington).

Melisandre (Carice van Houten)

Just as Game of Thrones fans thought they had seen the last death of the episode, The Long Night saw one more character end their time on the show.

Fire priestess Melisandre returned to Winterfell to bring the powers of the Lord of Light to the army.

Once the Night King was vanquished, she walked out into the wilderness, taking off the amulet that had been prolonging her life.
