Game of Thrones season 7: Littlefinger’s TRUE death flips EVERYTHING you know on its head

In George R.R. Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire, Westeros’ master manipulator is still standing and fans believe they’ve worked out he’ll actually meet his demise, according to his creator.

While HBO’s drama Game of Thrones surpassed Martin’s literary series at the beginning of season six, he was brutally murdered at the hands of Sansa Stark (played by Sophie Turner) in the season seven conclusion after falling victim to his own games.

Though, in the books, Littlefinger’s (Aidan Gillen) first obsession, Catelyn Stark (Michelle Fairley) is still roaming the Riverlands as a zombie, hunting down all who betrayed her and her family.

Of course, Littlefinger basically handed Ned Stark (Sean Bean) to the Lannisters and it appears Lady Stoneheart’s blood-thirsty pilgrimage could lead her straight to Lord Baelish.

“I think Littlefinger will have a trial, one that’s just as heavy handed and one-sided as the one we saw on the show,” wrote Reddit user rumandraspberries. “But it won’t be Sansa staring down Littlefinger, it will be Lady Stoneheart.

“She will be the one to pass the sentence as vengeance for what he did to her family. And his pleads to her will fall on deaf ears, and he’ll die terrified and begging for his life in front of a woman he loves, just like in the show.”

Martin previously revealed that HBO’s decision not to include Lady Stoneheart in the televised adaptation was the one pivotal moment from his books that he fought to be in the series, without avail.

“At some points, when [Game of Thrones showrunners David Benioff and Dan Weiss] and I had discussions about what way we should go in, I would always favour sticking with the books, while they would favour making changes,” he told TIME.

“I think one of the biggest ones would probably be when they made the decision not to bring Catelyn Stark back as Lady Stoneheart.

“That was probably the first major diversion of the show from the books and, you know, I argued against that, and David and Dan made that decision.”

Game of Thrones season eight release date is currently under doubt after it was reported the fantasy epic has been postponed until 2019.
