Game of Thrones season 7: Gwendoline Christie shuts down THIS Jaime Lannister theory

Now, Gwendoline Christie, who stars as Brienne of Tarth, has shed some light on romance rumours floating around online.

After being tasked with accompanying Jaime Lannister (played by Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) back to King’s Landing in exchange for Catelyn Stark’s (Michelle Fairley) daughters, she formed a deep respect for the knight.

Fans have watched eagerly to see if their relationship would develop into anything more than a friendship and now the actress has shut down rumours that they will end up together.

When asked if there was any hope for them, she commented: “There’s a whole world there. But I don’t think either of them has any idea of what’s going on or how to deal with it.”

Meanwhile, many other fans are hoping Brienne will team up with wildling Tormund Giantsbane (Kristofer Hivju).

But again, the star of the fantasy series isn’t sure they’re a great match.

“Do you think she actually liked him?” Gwendoline asked Newsweek. When they replied “no”, she quipped back: “Well, there you go!”

While Brienne has become one of the most popular characters on the show, the 38-year-old confessed taking on the role brought back memories of being ostracised for her appearance.

“I remember when I had my hair cut off, the armour, the mud… I completely changed the way that I looked,” she said.

“I knew I had to overcome the things that I was uncomfortable with, like my androgyny, my height, my physical strength, feeling like an outsider, being told I was outsider. It’s definitely given me more confidence.”
