Game of Thrones season 7 episode 6 leak: What does the note mean for Arya & Sansa Stark?

What did the note say?

In episode five, Eastwatch, Arya found a note in Littlefinger’s chambers that was signed by Sansa.

Eagle-eyed viewers recognised the scroll as one that Sansa was forced to write back in season one, when she was in King’s Landing as Joffrey’s betrothed.

She wrote to her oldest brother: “Robb, I write to you with a heavy heart. Our good king Robert is dead, killed from wounds he took in a boar hunt.

“Father has been charged with treason. He conspired with Robert’s brothers against my beloved Joffrey and tried to steal his throne.

“The Lannisters are treating me very well and provide me with every comfort. I beg you: come to King’s Landing, swear fealty to King Joffrey, and prevent any strife between the great houses of Lannister and Stark.”

Unaware that Littlefinger had planted the scroll to drive a wedge between the siblings, Arya pressed Sansa on the note in episode six, Death is the Enemy, and accused her of betraying their family.

Sansa saw right through Littlefinger’s scheme, but couldn’t convince her sister to drop the issue.

Calm but furious, Arya warned Sansa that she could kill her and take her place as she explained the ways of the Faceless Men.

What does it mean?

So far, the Stark family reunion has not been the joyous occasion that it could have been.

Jon and Sansa have rowed about ruling the North, Arya remains obsessed with crossing names off her kill list, and Bran is distant and cold as the Three-Eyed Raven.

When Bran and Sansa saw each other for the first time at Winterfell, Bran did not return his sister’s embrace.

But when he was reunited with Arya, he was clearly seen hugging her back.

According to a fan theory posted on Reddit, Bran’s foresight explains his next actions.

“Bran knows that something is not right with Sansa and that she will likely do something that hurts her family,” the fan wrote.

“He made a point of arming Arya with that dagger, which he can see she will have to use for some reason not yet known to us.

Sure enough, Arya brandished the dagger that Bran gave to her while interrogating Sansa in episode six.

“Will she have to kill Sansa? Only Bran knows for now,” the theory concluded.

season seven continues on Sky Atlantic and NOW TV on Mondays at 2am an 9pm.
