One of Game of Thrones’ fan favourites is the fearsome Brienne of Tarth who, in the patriarchal world of Westeros has proven herself more deadly than most men.

The character has been through an epic journey since she was introduced as Renly Baratheon’s (Gethin Anthony) in season two.

Season seven saw Brienne return to Winterfell with Podrick (Daniel Portman) in the aftermath of the Battle of the Bastards to witness Jon Snow (Kit Harington) declare the oncoming war with the Army of the Dead.

At this point, Brienne is still acting as Sansa’s (Sophie Turner) protection but is deeply distrustful of Little Finger (Aidan Gillen).

While at Winterfell, Brienne has a reunion with Arya (Maisie Williams) following her return home.

The two skilled fighters spar in an epic scene which saw Brienne shocked by Arya’s impressive agility and talent as a killer.

They eventually reach a stalemate and ate mutually impressed by each other.

WHERE IS GAME OF THRONES SEASON 8 FILMED?

Brienne is present when tensions start to arise between Sansa and Arya after the latter discovers the letter, which was planted by Littlefinger, that Sansa wrote to Robb (Richard Madden) pledging her loyalty to Joffrey (Jack Gleeson) when she was prisoner at King’s Landing.

Apparently plotting to undermine Arya, Sansa sends Brienne to King’s Landing to represent her at the parley with Cersei (Lena Heady). Brienne objects to the idea, claiming that Sansa is not safe alone.

Meanwhile, Jon and his team are beyond the Wall attempting to bring a wight to show Cersei and Torment Giantsbane (Kristofer Hivju) tells the Hound (Rory McCann) that he’s in love with Brienne – a romance that fans are hoping comes to fruition.

Brienne is present in King’s Landing when Jon and his party arrive with the wight where she reunites with Jaime (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) and witnesses Daenerys (Emilia Clarke) arrives on her dragons.

HOW ARE JON SNOW AND DAENERYS TARGARYEN RELATED?

Cersei declares she will not help the North, but afterwards, Brienne confronts Jaime and asks him to convince his sister.

Cerise then returns having apparently changed her mind and deciding to help the North.

In the season eight promo, Brienne is seen standing alongside Podrick at the font of a formation preparing for battle.

At one point, it also looks like she is fighting beside Jaime.
