As 2018 looms, we’ve put together a list of the shows you cannot and won’t want to miss.
American Crime Story: Assassination of Gianni Versace
Following the success of The People v OJ Simpson, American Crime Story returns for a second outing but this time it focusses on the murder of fashion designer Gianni Versace. With a stellar cast compromised of Penelope Cruz, Ricky Martin and Edgar Ramirez, there’s little doubt that you won’t be glued to your TV screen once more. The series is set to air in January on BBC Two.

Luther
Idris Elba returns as everyone’s favourite detective DCI John Luther in Neil Cross’ hit BBC series. Not too much is known about the new series but if the previous four seasons are anything to go by it will probably see Luther putted against a crazed criminal let loose in London. Luther is set to hit TV screens late 2018 on the BBC.
The OA
The first season of The OA left viewers with so many unanswered questions when it debuted in 2016 and now it is returning to reveal what happened to Brit Marling’s lead character Prairie. The elusive protagonist was last seen seemingly entering a new dimension after a high school shooting so it seems likely that the second run will pick up from where the previous one left off. The OA returns to Netflix on March 15.
TV in 2018: Grace and Frankie will return to Netflix for its fourth series
Grace and Frankie
Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin reprise their roles as Grace and Frankie for the Netflix original’s fourth outing in January. The new series is set to focus on the pair’s friendship when Sheree (played by Lisa Kudrow) comes into the picture causing friction between the ladies. Watch Grace and Frankie on Netflix on January 19.
Riverdale
Riverdale will return for its mid-season premiere in mid-January, with the show’s creator noting that the second half won’t focus on a murder. Instead, he promised it look more closely at the school, relationships and friendships. But Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa told Entertainment Weekly: “There’s still going to be a pulpy noir crime element to the second half, but there will be a resurgence of high school hijinks.” Riverdale returns to Netflix on January 18.

Westworld
Westworld is set to make a dramatic return to Sky Atlantic in early 2018 with the HBO series picking up after the attraction’s visitors were put in danger. In the closing moments of the first season, a robot revolution appeared to be on the cards leaving the future of the park unknown. Evan Rachel Wood, Ed Harris and Thandie Newton are all predicted to return. Westworld is slated to hit screens in Spring 2018 on Sky Atlantic.
Save Me
The Walking Dead’s Lennie James stars as Nelly in this six-part drama, whose 13-year-old daughter goes missing. While the father and daughter haven’t seen each other in a decade, Nelly is forced to step up and help find her as her mother and his ex, Claire (played by Suranne Jones) falls apart. This is not one to be missed! Save Me airs on Sky One in February.

Patrick Melrose
Benedict Cumberbatch takes on the lead role of Patrick Melrose, an aristocratic, outrageously funny playboy who undertakes a harrowing yet humorous decades-spanning odyssey through the South of France, New York and Britain. In the five-part drama, viewers will see him come to terms with childhood trauma, substance abuse and a myriad of family crises.
Britannia
Britannia is an epic journey into the dark, wild and unruly world of Britain in 43AD. The Imperial Roman Army has returned to crush the Celtic heart of Britannia, a mysterious land ruled by warrior women and powerful druids. The Celts are a fearsome tribe who will stop at nothing to protect their nations, beliefs and honour. Starring David Morrissey, Zoe Wanamaker and Mackenzie Crook, you won’t want to miss this.

TV in 2018: Sarah Lancashire stars as Miriam in Channel 4 drama Kiri
Kiri
Kiri sees Sarah Lancashire star as Miriam, an experience social worker who becomes caught up in a police investigation when a young girl goes missing during a supervised visit. The drama will see Kiri’s grandparents race and dysfunctional family relationships put under the microscope in this gripping four-part drama. Kiri starts on January 10 on Channel 4
Homeland
Homeland will return to Channel 4 for its penultimate season, with Claire Danes returning as Carrie Mathison. She will return to Washington D.C to take on the administration of President Keane (Elizabeth Marvel) who, after a failed assassination attempt, had 200 members of the intelligence community arrested. Homeland will return in February on Channel 4.
