A new Fortnite update is being released today on PS4, Xbox One, Mobile, PC and Nintendo Switch.
Patch 8.11 is going live in a few hours and will add a new weapon to the island, as well as a number of bugfixes for gamers.
Epic Games has confirmed that they will be releasing their next patch at 9 am in the UK, or 5 am EST in the United States.
And while this looks to be a minor update compared to those we have seen of late, Epic will have to take down servers.
It’s unclear how long this will last but fans can expect the game to be offline for at least an hour while the support team completes scheduled maintenance.
Disruption is likely to hit Fortnite Battle Royale 30 minutes before the scheduled downtime, so fans should be prepared to start getting kicked at around 8:30am.
A message from Epic Games reveals: “Ahoy, Mateys! The v8.11 update is setting sail tomorrow, March 20 at 5 AM ET(0900 UTC).
“During this time we’ll be updating some of our Social Services. You may notice some irregularity with your friend’s list & party options until these updates have finished.”
One platform that has seen some regular troubles is Fortnite on Android and iOS, which has been hit by stability and voice chat problems.
Epic says they are handling these issues now, with more fixes coming soon.
A recent statement on the Fortnite Mobile issues reads: “Since the launch of Season 8, we’ve noticed a number of quality-of-life issues that we should have communicated better and earlier.
“Our previous efforts towards mobile stability tended to focus on top crashes and issues found after each release across both iOS and Android. Focusing on platform-wide issues, however, meant we missed what we now discovered to be a frequently occurring GPU hang specific to iPhone 8. We’ve corrected this hole in our process and will have better oversight on individual devices moving forward. For those of you experiencing the GPU hang, we’ve been able to reproduce the issue and are actively working towards a fix.
“We’ve also noticed new voice chat issues, and more frequent network disconnects on mobile since the launch of Season 8. Over the course of the next couple of weeks, various items/features may be briefly taken offline while we investigate a variety of issues. We appreciate your continued feedback so we can resolve issues that occur and continue working towards making Fortnite Mobile the best possible gaming experience.”
So some new Fortnite Mobile fixes will no doubt be part of the official Fortnite patch notes. We already know that a new Flintlock pistol is being released in today’s Fortnite update, with detailed stats expected in the upcoming update notes.
A fix is also inbound for an issue in which the Event leaderboard shows Rank 0 for all players.
Vending Machines should also make a return in Team Rumble, while a Driftboard problem has been solved.
