Fortnite fans have been told that new content will be added to the game today on PS4, Xbox One, PC, Nintendo Switch and Mobile.
The announcement was revealed on Twitter, with the official Fortnite account posting the latest news.
It has now been confirmed that Fortnite update 6.02 will be released on October 10, and will require downtime.
Servers will go offline at around 9am in the UK and will remain offline until scheduled maintenance has been completed.
The good news is that while Fortnite is down, Epic Games will share the patch notes for the new update.
And from what has been shared online, we already know at least one new weapon will be making its debut today.
It’s even hinted in today’s message from Epic Games, which reads: “Launch into patch v6.02 Wednesday, October 10!
“Patch Notes will be available when downtime begins at 4 AM ET (0800 GMT).”
The “launch” part of the message is probably hinting at the new quad launcher being added to the game today.
It should also be noted that when players log into Battle Royale right now, they’re being teased with the brand new weapon.
This weapon is the Quad Launcher which is being teased alongside this description: “Quickly fire up to 4 rockets to blanket an area with explosive damage.”
As the name and description suggest, this will be a powerful new weapon which could certainly help in the endgame phase.
While it’s unclear just how strong each rocket will be, there’s no doubt it could do some real damage when trying to grab 1st place.
Elsewhere the PS4, Xbox One, PC, Nintendo Switch and iOS update looks like it will make one or two fixes that were absent from last week’s content patch.
This includes a fix for a problem in which an unrendered Starter Island appears during the loading screen.
Epic explains more on Trello: “While loading in, players may notice an unrendered version of the Starter Island appear for a short time, then be replaced with the loading screen again until the map fully renders.”
Fortunately for fans, the issue will be fixed in the next Fortnite release.
It seems that the Skull Trooper skin will also be returning to the item shop, following a new tease from Epic Games.
Data miners say they have found the rare outfit in the game files, meaning it will likely be released with other Halloween cosmetics.
And the development just posted a little hint on Twitter, with a skull and a pickaxe next to the word “soon”.
Epic Games has teased returning skins like this in the past, meaning we could have the Skull Trooper back in the item store this week.
It looks like the development team are doing their best to make this year’s Halloween event a memorable one.
Not only can they run wild with the designs they release but they also have new competition arriving later this month.
So keeping things fresh for their fanbase is probably the best way to go for the coming months.
