Today marks the start of Epic Games’ new Fortnite eSports competition, which has undergone some changes.
Now known as the Fortnite Fall Skirmish, the new event will kick off later today, September 21.
The development team say they have taken a number of ideas from the Summer Skirmish series and are bringing back some formats.
This will include two groups of competitors facing off at different times on Friday, both sessions being streamed on the official Fortnite Twitch channel.
Week 1 begins today, with the Fortnite Fall Skirmish starting at 5pm in the UK – 12:00 PM EST in the United States.
Group 2 will play at 9pm in the UK, with all players using the same format throughout the day.

The way to win Week 1 of the new Fortnite Skirmish is through working as a team.
The Duo team with the most points at the end of 6 matches wins, with Victory Royales and Eliminations scored to determine placement at the end of the event.
And the top 10 teams at the end of the competition will be awarded prize money based on their performance.

SKIRMISH CHANGES
The Fortnite Skirmish competition is also being revamped to include Clubs, which will be represented by 500 Fortnite community creators and competitors.
This big group has been split into five clubs and will remain that way for the entire 6 weeks of Fall Skirmish.
Weekly trials are also part of the Clubs experience and will be taken on by select members of each Club to complete in order to earn additional points for their Club.
Clubs will be awarded points for each weekly trial and high skill event based on their members’ performances.
And in addition to awarding players with prizes for each event, Clubs will be awarded $ 4,000,000 in prizes at the conclusion of the Fall Skirmish series based on total points earned.
The five new Fortnite Clubs include:
- FORT KNIGHTS
- LUCKY LLAMAS
- DUSTY DOGS
- RIFT RAIDERS
- BUSH BANDITS
“Beginning in October, we’re opening up inclusive competition, where everybody can play and compete,” A message from Epic Games explains.
“To make that possible we’ve had to harden and scale our systems and infrastructure. For example, August was Fortnite’s biggest month yet, with 78.3 million of you showing up to play.
“This exposed weak points and allowed us to make targeted improvements to critical systems, such as stats and servers.
“The Summer Skirmish also, as you all probably noticed, highlighted problems with performance and spectating, which we’ve been working on ever since.
“We’re excited about kicking off the new competition system and we’ll have details dropping in the weeks ahead.”
