Fortnite developer Epic Games has been forced to take party and chat features offline for maintenance.
The party and chat features have been disabled while Epic comes up for a solution to recent problems.
The news was announced by Epic Games on Twitter, following an in-game notification confirming the plans.
“We are disabling our chat and party services for maintenance. We apologize for this inconvenience. Stay updated with our status page.”
The in-game notification, meanwhile, reads: “Social services unavailable. We’re investigating issues with our chat and paprty services.”
The status page confirms that parties, chat and messaging are all currently unavailable.
Stay tuned for more information…
It’s possible the issues are connected to the recently released update 7.30.
The 7.30 update introduces the brand new Chiller Grenade and adds mobile controller support.
“Give your enemies cold feet with this winter blast!” reads an in-game Chiller Grenade preview.
The Chiller Grenade is said to knock players back, causing them to slide along the ground.
This lasts for seven seconds and applies to allies, enemies and vehicles, so you’ll need to be careful when using it.
Elsewhere, Epic Games has vaulted the Bolt-action Sniper Rifle, Burst Rifle, Heavy Shotgun and SMG.
There’s also a special Super Bowl surprise ahead of this weekend’s game between Los Angeles Rams and New England Patriots.
