Fisker EMotion electric car has 400 miles of range and can recharge battery in minutes

Fisker has confirmed the debut of its luxury EMotion saloon car at CES 2018 in Las Vegas in January.

CES has a burgeoning car presence as the years go on with car manufacturers debuting the latest and greatest vehicles and new technology.

The EMotion will be on display for the first time ever, which is exciting as a lot of small electric car firms or startups often fall by the wayside.

But Fisker is a company you want to root for given the car it is producing.

The EMotion boasts a desirable spec sheet with over 400 miles of claimed range on a single charge.

What’s more, 125 miles of this range can be recharged thanks to the new ‘Ultra Charge’ technology the company has been working on.

In addition to the Ultra Charger, the manufacturer has been working with LG Chem to create the ‘world’s largest EV battery pack’ with the ‘highest energy density cell in the world.’

It seems like Fisker wants to progress the industry instead of just cashing in on its growing success.

The car will also have ‘real-world autonomous driving’ thanks to LIDAR sensors which 3D map their environment.

This allow the car to identify obstacles and objects around it and on the road.

One problem for manufacturers is how to integrate these sensors and camera to enable autonomy without them sticking out on the car.

Fisker’s savvy solution was to integrate the LIDAR into its mini grille, serving both function and style.

It’s a nicely styled car with a sporty four-door coupe body, tapered front-end and ridiculous doors.

The doors both open upwards but in different directions.

Although we have no power information about the car we do know that it will have all-wheel drive.

It is slated to go into production in 2019 – but it will cost you.

Prices start from $ 129,000, which puts it against the very top end Tesla Model S P100D, which is an awesome vehicle.

“The Fisker EMotion is set to be the next leader in electric vehicles and we are honored to be a part of this groundbreaking opportunity by providing our LiDAR sensors to help guide drivers on the road,” said Louay Eldada, Quanergy CEO.

“Our leading LiDAR sensors will elevate the autonomous capabilities of the EMotion to support Henrik’s vision of a truly autonomous and connected experience in a luxury automobile that will further advance the world’s view of autonomous and electric vehicles.”

“The Emotion has been a dream of mine for many years and bringing it to life has been a journey of finding the best partners to incorporate the leading technology and design to make the EMotion the best possible electric vehicle on the road – advancing the conversation and mainstream capabilities of all electric vehicles on the road,” said Henrik Fisker, founder and CEO of Fisker Inc.

“Partnering with Quanergy to incorporate their LiDAR systems is the missing piece needed to elevate the technology needed to give customers a true electric, autonomous and connected experience.”
