Across the Moment puts you in a series of shifting dream worlds, tasking you with finding items and solving puzzles as reality alters around you. Along the way, you’ll have to piece together the themes of each place, and all while constantly trying to figure out what it all means for you and your life.

Across the Moment begins with a car accident, with the player awakening in a world that is both lacking in, yet full of, vibrant color. Here, you will cross twelve themed worlds, with realities built around things like ecology, technology, and religion, finding the objects and working through the mechanisms within. Also, you’ll need to be on the lookout for eight masks, four of which give you new powers, that will be necessary to get through these surreal places.

With its mixture of bleakness and beautiful color, Across the Moment makes for a jarring experience, one that encourages you think about the world and its themes as you try to move through it. You’ll also need to find your place within it based on some decision you can make that will alter the story, eventually finding out what fate lead you here.

This first release marks the initial part of a four-chapter story, so you can expect to put a lot of thought into what happened to you before your adventure is over. That is, if you can deal with a reality that doesn’t want to sit still, and the oppressive beauty of this place.

Across the Moment is available for $ 2.99 on Steam. For more information on the game and developer Andrei Romanov, you can follow them on YouTube and Twitter.
