The studio behind one of the year’s biggest titles is set to reveal some major news about it in the coming days.
The Fallout 76 release date has been set for November and will follow the launch of the official beta test on all platforms.
Bethesda themselves have shared plenty of new details about their upcoming online-only game; however, one thing has been missing.
Fans haven’t seen a lot of live gameplay from Fallout 76 on PS4, Xbox One, or PC.
And with just weeks to go before the official beta begins on Xbox, it seems strange we haven’t seen more.
However, this is all about to change, with the studio team set to show off more gameplay later this week.
Bethesda Studios VP Pete Hines made the announcement on Twitter while answering a question on the subject of new footage.
“In about a week there’s gonna be, like, 400 hours of Fallout 76 footage to watch,” he commented.
That will undoubtedly be a significant increase on what we have right now, and as this was posted nearly a week ago, we can probably expect a load of new details to land in the coming days.
This could include footage of a full server, with Bethesda confirming that each game will consist of a capacity of 24 characters.
It has also been announced that when a player dies, they will have the choice of respawning in a location they have already spawned, like how you when fast-travelling.
But it’s one thing talking about it and another to see all of this stuff in action, something that looks set to change later this week.
The next big event following new footage being released will be the beta, which is set to start first on Xbox One.
The Fallout 76 beta launches on Xbox One on Tuesday, October 23, and on PlayStation 4 and PC on October 30.
Running things a little differently from other companies, the Fallout beta will not be available 24hrs a day.
Instead, Bethesda will be looking to try out the game at specific times, meaning it will be available in short bursts.
It’s a little unusual, but it also sounds like a great way to work out what the servers will need to survive under the different stresses.
These tests may help to avoid complete server failure on all platforms and mean that the beta will be available to play until November.
Here’s more from Bethesda, who confirm: “During the B.E.T.A. one of our primary goals is to stress test and break the game.
“As such, the servers will not be running 24/7; instead, they’ll be online during targeted timeframes so we can get as many people as possible playing at the same time.
“Why? Because that’s the best way to put all our systems to the test and see how they respond.
“On any given day the game might be up for anywhere between four to eight hours. Focusing as many players as we can into these windows is our prime objective.”
