Last night’s Eurovision Song Contest continued to deliver with an incredible variety of acts and performances on the giant Tel Aviv stage.
Former Big Brother’s Bit on the Side presenter Rylan Clark-Neal and Radio 1 host Scott Mills returned to commentate on the second semi-final on BBC 4, as they geared up for the final taking place this weekend.
Yet when it was Macedonia’s turn to take to the stage, both Rylan and viewers were struck by how much singer Tamara Todevska looked like Strictly Come Dancing presenter Tess, 50 – about 15 years ago.
Rylan had many fans in stitches when he said: “And now, it’s Tess Daly meets Jo O’Meara, circa 2002 with a bob.”
Taking to Twitter to discuss the similarity and Rylan’s comments, fans shared their thoughts.
One person wrote: “#MKD it’s like Tess Daly stole Concheetas song!! Loving it though!! #eurovision.”
“That really is Tess Daly #Eurovision,” another declared.
A third exclaimed: “Tess Daly is doing BITS #eurovision.”
While a fourth agreed with the host: “Rylan’s right, she’s serving up prototype Tess Daly. #MKD #eurovision.”
“Rylan is completely right about this lady. Tess Daly with a Bob circa 2002 #eurovision,” a fifth shared.
Viewers couldn’t concentrate on the performance as the similarity seemed too startling to ignore.
“Singer for North Macedonia looks like Tess Daly #Eurovision,” one person commented.
Another asked: “#Eurovision why is Tess Daly representing North Macedonia??”
“It’s Tess Daly representing #NorthMacedonia no split ends on that bob #Eurovision,” a third joked.
While a fourth agreed: “2002 Tess Daly with a bob is so true #MKD #Eurovision.”
“Haha ‘Tess Daly from 2002 with a bob’ Love @Rylan’s commentary! #eurovision @bbceurovision,” another said, while others thought the singer reminded them of a different presenter.
“Tess daly… yep that’s all we are seeing now to @Rylan @scott_mills @Eurovision @BBCFOUR #eurovision #mkd I see more Denise Van Outen I think,” one person offered.
“I cannot surpass Rylan’s ‘Tess Daly meets Jo O’Meara’ for North Macedonia. #EUROVISION,” another said.
Tomorrow’s final will be commentated by chat show host favourite Graham Norton.
Eurovision 2019 continues tomorrow on BBC One.
