The Irish pundit and Manchester United legend left England v Croatia viewers incredibly confused ahead of tonight’s semi-final and it only continued into half-time as well.
Many fans were startled by Roy’s seemingly “orange” tan.
Comparing him to Donald Trump and an “oompa loompa” from classic film Willy Wonka’s Chocolate Factory, comments flooded social media about the sports star.
Taking to Twitter, viewers couldn’t hide their feelings about the sight.
One person wrote: “Holy cow, only just seen Roy Keane, he’s orange. He’s actually orange!! He’s been tangoed 10 x over or that’s the worst fake tan ever. Looks like he rolled in Wotsits before the show #ENGCRO.”
“#ENGCRO watching @ITV coverage and what in earth is this tan,” another asked.
A third posted: “The most important thing to note from that first half… Has Roy Keane had a spray tan?!”
While a fourth even likened the moment to the quarter final’s half-time when Gary Lineker thought a fan was actually England manager Gareth Southgate.
“In other news. Fake tan is seeing the same surge in sales as waistcoats. #WorldCup #Eng #ENGCRO #royKeane,” they declared.
Viewers continued to share their shock at the former manager’s choice.
One person decided: “Roy Keane has gone all Judith Charmers with the tan and Kevin Keegan with his punditry #ENGCRO.”
“CAN WE TALK ABOUT ROY KEANE’S FAKE TAN?!! WTF?!?” another exclaimed.
A third simply asked: “What fake tan is Roy Keane using? #EngCro #WorldCup.”
While a fourth joked: “It’s either the contrast on my TV or Keano’s spray tan has gone horribly wrong.”
Croatia won against England in tonight’s semi-final and are going straight through to the live final against France.
The final match of the 2018 World Cup takes place Sunday at 3pm.
If England had won, it would have been their first victory since the historic game in 1966, which saw the country take home the trophy.
While the team couldn’t manage to pull together in tonight’s tense match, they played valiantly and have put England back on the map for the next World Cup.
But who will come top out of Croatia and the notoriously impressive France?
The World Cup 2018 semi-final is available to stream on ITV Hub now.
