Endeavour season 6: Will there be another series of Endeavour?

Will there be another series of Endeavour?

There is no official word on a sixth season recommission just yet.

However, it is highly likely that ITV will order more episodes based on this season’s popularity.

The series is a spin off prequel to ITV’s long running Inspector Morse series, with Shaun Evens playing the young detective.

The actor even hinted that the series is set to continue after season five.

“This series definitely sets up more for a return,” he said.

“We’ve made six feature length films this time and kept the quality of the work up. That, in itself, is cause for celebration. If we’re lucky enough to do some more, and we all want to, that’s great. But, if not, we’re all very proud of the series.”

WHO IS IN THE CAST OF ENDEAVOUR SEASON 5?

What will happen in Endeavour season 6?

Following on from tonight’s events, a possible new season would pick up following whether or not Morse solves the ongoing murders linked to Eddie Nero (played by Mark Arden).

Evans said that tonight’s episode leaves a lot of unanswered questions, so fans are sure to be eager for a follow-up.

“There are lots of questions to answer, but there are lots of factors involved so you just take this job one day at a time,” he said.

A fresh set of cases are likely to be explored in season six also.

ENDEAVOUR SEASON 5 FILMING LOCATION

Tonight’s episodes is called Icarus and a synopsis from ITV reads: “After the mysterious disappearance of a teacher, Endeavour finds himself undercover, investigating the dark and secret world of a public school.

“When a body is unexpectedly discovered, Endeavour has to question who he can trust – and uncover the truth about the crimes before more people are hurt.

“Thursday (Roger Allam) is determined to solve the ongoing unsolved murders linked to Eddie Nero, and charges Fancy with tracking down the elusive Cromwell Ames.

“But when the investigation ends in disaster, Cowley CID find a surprising link to Endeavour’s investigation at the public school. In the shadow of the tragedy, the team find some unexpected answers to their cases.

“Meanwhile, Thursday’s life is turned upside down by the return of his brother, and Endeavour looks towards the future with the possibility of a new relationship.”

Who will be in Endeavour season 6?

You can’t have Endeavour without Endeavour himself so Shaun Evans will definitely be back in the titular role for a potential new season.

Other core cast members slated for a return are of course Roger Allam as DCI Fred Thursday and Anton Lesser as CS Reginald Bright.

Poldark’s Lewis Peek is likely to be reappearing as DC George Fancy along with Dakota Blue Richards as WPC Shirley Trewlove.

Endeavour continues tonight on ITV at 8pm.
