Emmerdale spoilers: Truth about Emma's death REVEALED in devastating Moira Barton twist

In the second instalment of the double bill, Ross (played by Michael Parr) could be seen thrusting a suicide note into his mother’s (Gillian Kearney) face and telling her to do what she had promised.

As Emma climbed onto the ledge of the viaduct, it looked as thought her son would push her off but he said he would not go to prison for her.

In a surprising turn of events, he walked away and told her to jump off after he had left, before speeding away in his car.

It looked as though Emma was about to follow her offspring’s advice but Moira Barton (Natalie J. Robb) saw her standing on the edge and tried to talk her down.

Unfortunately things took a devastating turn when Emma began to taunt the farmer about her dead daughter Holly (Sophie Powles) insisting that she was to blame.

“Imagine if you’d paid attention and actually noticed that there was something wrong with Holly the day that she died,” Emma teased.

“If you’d just put that cup of tea down and cared enough to pull back the covers, she’d still be alive wouldn’t she?

“You could have saved her Moira but you walked out, left her to die all on her own with nobody there and you knew that when you found her, didn’t you? Lying there cold, you knew, you killed her.”

She continued: “You might as well as have injected the heroin yourself.”

Emma’s cutting final remark certainly touched a nerve with Moira as she pushed the nurse and watched her fall to her death.

The episode ended with Ross revealing that he had returned to stop his mum from jumping but it was too late and he found her body below.

Meanwhile Moira confessed her involvement in Emma’s death to Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley) – will he keep her secret or will she be forced to face the consequences?

Emmerdale continues tomorrow on ITV at 7pm.
