Kirin Kotecha (played by Adam Fielding) left the ITV soap after a horrific storyline saw him kill Pierce Harris’ (Jonathan Wrather) wife Tess (Nicola Stephenson) in a drunken hit-and-run last year.
But while fans were convinced that was the end of Kirin’s time in the village, now Emmerdale’s official Twitter posted a cryptic throwback photo of the character and the mother of his child, Vanessa Woodfield (Michelle Hardwick).
The picture showed the pair hugging, and was captioned: “After Kirin, can Vanessa find true love again?”
Could the reference simply be teasing a new love interest for the blonde, or is it a devious way of dropping a huge bombshell that the Birmingham-born actor will be making a comeback?
Taking to Twitter, fans demanded soap bosses bring back the charming character.
“Bring back Kirin for Vanessa. She deserves a bit of excitement in her life again xx,” one person posted.
Another viewer echoed: “I wish Kirin could come back for Vanessa.”
“No bring him back,” a third replied to the photo’s caption, while another fan said: “Vanessa was a lucky so and so being in Kirin’s arms…”
Since leaving the Yorkshire Dales, Adam, 24, starred in BBC drama Into The Dark alongside actress MyAnna Buring.
A representative for the soap told the Mirror Online that there are “no current plans” for Kirin to return.
