The pair were scheduled to go on a date after Rhona (played by Zoe Henry) bid on Pete (Anthony Quinlan) during a charity auction but the Barton brother fell asleep.
Tonight, Rhona’s co-worker and friend Vanessa Woodfield (Michelle Hardwick) scolded Pete for standing her up and convinced him to make an effort with her.
And the farmer finally got his chance to ask Rhona out when he found himself in a spot of trouble.
He could be seen struggling to herd a flock of sheep into a field when Rhona arrived in her jeep.
The pair worked together to get the sheep off the road and Pete tried to complement Rhona but ended up red-faced.
Rhona could be seen laughing as she walked off but was forced to return to help Pete when his car wouldn’t start.
Despite their best attempts, they were unable to get the engine going once again and had to call for help.
As Rhona left the farmer once more, he stepped forward and the pair shared a short but sweet kiss.
Fans flocked to social media to comment on their blossoming romance and the latest pairing on the ITV soap.
Unfortunately for the new couple, many fans are not convinced, with some claiming Rhona “deserves better”.
One viewer shared: “Interesting pairing. I don’t think its going anywhere relationship wise I think its gonna be all about sex and I can see Pete getting Rhona pregnant that’s what I think will come out of this story #Emmerdale.”
Another added: “Rhona and Pete? Give me a break #Emmerdale.”
