In dramatic scenes which saw Rebecca (played by Emily Head) go into early labour, Robert (Ryan Hawley) finally realised he was once again part of the family he’s been secretly trying to sabotage.
However, the soap’s most calculating villain may have taken a sudden U-turn after holding his son for the first time.
Regardless, actress Emily, who stars as new mum Rebecca, has revealed an even bigger bombshell about Emmerdale’s new cast member.
“The baby is amazing, a little boy,” enthused Emily. “But the baby is actually played by a little girl because we needed a very small baby, and she’s wonderful.
“Lily is her name in real life, and she just sleeps all the time. I think I’ve heard her cry once. She’s amazing.”
The 28-year-old also revealed how she managed to get into the mind of a mother in labour.
“I watched One Born Every Minute pretty much every night, picking which screams to use,” she said.
“I couldn’t practice it so much because I realised my neighbours would think I’ve been attacked, but yes, there was a lot of prep work.”
Emily’s revelation comes ahead of the White family’s dramatic exit, expected to hit screens early next year.
Showrunner Iain MacLeod has hinted the clan will bow out in “spectacular” scenes, alluding to at least one death.
“There’s been speculation there could be a death as part of their exit story, but I don’t want to reveal too much,” he hinted.
“We are doing something spectacular in January and the Whites will be a major part of that. It’ll be one of the most intense rollercoaster months we’ve ever had.”
Emmerdale continues tomorrow at 7pm on ITV.
