Harriet Finch (played by Katherine Dow Blyton) tried her best to manage her heartbreak after her split from the ITV soap’s bad boy Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley) on tonight’s instalment, but suddenly revealed that she was looking to move.
But after telling mechanic Ross Barton (Michael Parr) that she needed her vehicle fixed to scout out a new Parish in Oxford, Harriet’s ex Cain seemed hurt when he discovered he could lose her for good.
Despite his love declaration to long-time love Moira Dingle (Natalie J. Robb) on last night’s episode, Cain made a plea for the vicar to stay and the pair shared a tantalising kiss.
Amid the couple’s drama, some fans were more concerned with what Harriet’s sudden departure from the soap could mean. Is she Emma Barton’s (Gillian Kearney) killer and trying to flee the scene of her crime? Or will the character stay for Cain?
Viewers took to Twitter to speculate that the church devotee is hiding a devastating secret.
“Is Harriet wanting to move due to a guilty conscience? #Emmerdale,” one person wrote.
Another said with certainty: “Harriet definitely knows more about Emma’s death than she is letting on #Emmerdale”
“Harriet. The murderous vicar of course…,” a third agreed, as another echoed: “I think it’s Harriet.. where did the note Emma left with the baby go, when Harriet found it???? Hmmmmm”
The episode also finally saw the highly-anticipated return of Chas Dingle (Lucy Pargeter).
Paddy Dingle’s (Dominic Brunt) ex came back with a bang when she lunged at him over the sofa.
“What are you doing home?” the vet had asked in confusion, as Chas demanded: “I’m asking the questions. Are you or are you not currently identifying as a single male?”
The pair embraced in a passionate kiss in the episode’s closing moments, but will Paddy find out the truth about her time abroad?
Emmerdale continues tomorrow at 7pm on ITV.
