When Lisa (played by Jane Cox) found out that her surrogate granddaughter Liv (Isobel Steele) had been the one to spike her drink with ketamine on Emmerdale, the matriarch didn’t need time to think.
Filled with anger towards the 16-year-old, the farmer reported her to the police while she was recovering in her hospital bed.
Yet what followed was something Lisa couldn’t have been prepared for.
Not only did Chas Dingle (Lucy Pargeter) threaten to disown her for turning in one of their own and breaking the Dingle code, but Aaron Dingle (Danny Miller) begged for her to change her mind.
Tonight’s first instalment finally saw Liv’s downward spiral with alcohol potentially come to an end when Lisa came across the troubled youngster drowning her sorrows.
Nursing an accidental injury from the smashed bottle, Liv started sobbing at her impending prison sentence and Lisa seemed to change her mind in an instant.
The pair shared a gut wrenching hug and fans took to Twitter to share their feelings on the moment, with some predicting that Lisa will take back the charges.
One person wrote: “I reckon she’s gonna drop charges #Emmerdale.”
“Liv is breaking my heart!!” another declared sadly.
A third confessed to being in tears, saying: “@Isobel_steele is such a good actress, had me weeping with that scene with Lisa @emmerdale #emmerdale.”
While a fourth agreed: “Amazing acting from @Isobel_steele #Emmerdale.”
“Aww no Liv Isobel is smashing these scenes!! #Emmerdale #Robron,” another viewer praised.
Revealing her struggles since the incident, Liv admitted: “Knowing what you deserve, it doesn’t stop you from being scared does it. I’ve seen Aaron in prison and what happened to my dad, Aaron doesn’t think I can hack it I heard him say it.
“What if I totally freak out and I can’t hack it? I don’t wanna go Lisa,” Liv sobbed.
Emmerdale continues tonight at 8pm on ITV.
