The billionaire business made a shock arrival in the Dales where he wooed Debbie Dingle (played by Charley Webb) before throwing her out of the home he bought her and revealing he planned to destroy her family.
Joe (Ned Porteous) blames her mother Charity (Emma Atkins) for his dad’s suicide and wants to leave the Dingles with nothing.
However, upcoming scenes will see Debbie take revenge on Joe for leaving her homeless in the New Year.
Next week the young mum is set to tease Joe by heading to Home Farm and dousing the property in petrol before revealing she’s rigged it to blow up.
Later when he heads out for a run, he will come face-to-face with a masked gun man.
But will Joe survive the deadly encounters?
It certainly looks that way as soap star Ned hinted he would be causing trouble in Emmerdale village for a long while yet.
Speaking to Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid on Good Morning Britain, the actor was asked: “Does it feel like Hollywood is just a stone’s throw away?”
“I have no intentions of leaving for Hollywood anytime soon…” Ned cheekily replied, assuring fans he won’t be stepping down as Joe in the near future.
The presenters of the ITV breakfast show also drew attention to Instagram snaps, which show him flexing his muscles.
Joking, Piers probed: “How are you dealing with now becoming a heart throb?”
“I wear a hat and sunglasses and never leave the house,” Ned replied.
“That’s why all of my selfies are taken in my flat.”
It comes after Ned shut down claims that other members of the Tate family could make an arrival in the village.
Answering a question in a recent Twitter Q&A, he posted: “There’s only room in this town for one Tate! N x @NedPorteous #AskTate #Emmerdale.”
Emmerdale airs weekdays on ITV at 7pm while Good Morning Britain airs weekdays on ITV at 6am.
