Viewers have been waiting to find out Graham’s (played by Andrew Scarborough) backstory for weeks on Emmerdale now, but instead the ITV soap have created yet another puzzle.
The plot began with village villain Joseph Tate’s (Ned Porteous) discovery that Graham had been lying to him about his dealings with both Debbie Dingle (Charley Webb) and Robert Sugden (Ryan Hawley).
Realising that Graham had deleted footage from the secret CCTV cameras at Robert’s office, the billionaire businessman embarked on a mission to uncover exactly what he was hiding.
With some help, Joseph realised the lost files showed a mystery figure standing in the background.
He then enlisted a shadowy technical assistant to go on a hunt for the person’s identity, claiming that he needed to figure out who he could trust.
Convinced they’d already found out who was behind strange appearance, viewers took to Twitter to discuss their theories.
One person declared: “It’s Simon on CCTV. #emmerdale.”
“So this ‘uninvited guest’ is gonna be Charity’s son. #Emmerdale,” another speculated.
A confused viewer demanded: “Wait what? Is Joe working with the cops?? Who the f**k was that guy?? #Emmerdale.”
While a fourth asked: “Who was that on the photos? #emmerdale,” followed by: “Who was the face on the CCTV on #Emmerdale?”
“Whose face was that on the screen? #Emmerdale,” another frustrated fan added.
While many viewers were left baffled by the confusing storyline, if the mystery figure is actually drug dealer Simon McManus (Liam Ainsworth) then it could mean that Robert is in a whole lot of danger.
It would also spell trouble for mother-of-two Debbie after she inadvertently ordered Simon to do an acid attack against Ross Barton (Michael Parr).
What’s more, Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley) was last seen roughing up Simon and warning him never to return to the Yorkshire dales, with some fans wondering if the village hard-man had actually killed Simon after all.
Meanwhile, Graham remained unaware that Joseph was suspicious of him in tonight’s episode, but was forced to listen to a horrifying revelation involving Rebecca White (Emily Head).
Flashing a sinister smile, Joseph revealed that he’d reported the recovering character for breaking into Home Farm and assaulting him with a golf club.
Sharing his carefully constructed plan to get to Robert through Rebecca, Joseph then said: “Here’s his baby mother breaking in and going all gangster on the owner.
“Who knows what that’s going to give us?”
