The past year has been a difficult one for Emmerdale‘s Chas (played by Lucy Pargeter) who has seen the birth and death of her baby girl Grace.
And while her relationship with Paddy Kirk (Dominic Brunt) has also been turbulent, in the upcoming months of the New Year, they are set to get stronger than ever.
However, it wouldn’t be a soap without a few hiccups along the way, and actress Lucy has teased a major storyline twist for her character.
Unfortunately for fans, it’s not a wedding.
Discussing the future for Chas and Paddy, Lucy expressed her interest for the pair to get married.
“I’d like to have a Dingle wedding and walk down the aisle. But do it in the summer please, we do everything in winter and it’s freezing cold.
“But we have got something else next year that isn’t a wedding…” she teased to Metro.co.uk.
While any plans for the pair to tie the knot are on hold until the middle of the year, it seems the twist could be a shock revelation which could rock her relationship with Paddy.
It comes after Mandy (Lisa Riley) makes her highly anticipated return to the Dales in upcoming scenes.
The feisty farm girl has been absent from Emmerdale for 17 years and her comeback is going to spark some tension.
It is clear the romantic history Mandy and Paddy shared all those years ago are firmly in the past, but Mandy has many secrets to be exposed.
It has already been revealed Mandy will arrive back in the village with a son, Vinnie.
And all eyes will turn to Paddy, and question whether he is the father of the boy.
Nevertheless, this won’t be the only worry for Chas.
In a recent interview with Radio Times, actress Lisa discussed the firm possibility her character and Chas could actually be related.
“I honestly think Mandy and Chas are sisters, they are very similar.
“The way [Emmerdale] writes for Chas, reminds me of how they wrote for Mandy when I was here.
“If the turned out they were sisters it would be wonderful to explore,” Lisa added.
Could Mandy and Chas be secret sisters? And how will Paddy feel about the strange set-up?
Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7pm on ITV.
