After a distressing day giving her testimony, Rhona Goskirk (played by Zoe Henry) struggled to remain positive on the ITV soap, leading her friend Vanessa Woodfield (Michelle Hardwick) to decide to step in.
“I just wasted my time. They threw everything at me. I’m a druggie whore who likes rough sex, I framed Pierce [Jonathan Wrather] so I could get a cheap divorce to run off with Paddy. All the evidence supports their theory,” she told her friends and ex husband Paddy Kirk (Dominic Brunt) bitterly.
While Marlon Dingle (Mark Charnock) remained hesitantly hopeful that the case can still prevail, Vanessa told him it wouldn’t be enough.
“We can fight fire with fire. He’s lying through his teeth to stitch her up. We’ll just have to do the same,” she said.
But as Marlon couldn’t bear the idea of breaking the law, Vanessa continued to push him to get in on the plan.
“It’s our only chance,” she stated, as Marlon fired back: “No it’s not, I can’t lie about nicking the last chocolate in the box let alone on the stand with some sociopathic lawyer grilling me.”
In a last ditch attempt to convince him, Vanessa said: “We are losing our friend. Pierce is breaking her all over again. He’s stripping her of her confidence, of her pride, of herself.
“We have to do whatever it takes to fix her. We have to lie for her on the stand Marlon, and I know exactly what we have to say.”
The rape trial will continue in tomorrow’s episode of the soap.
