Her husband Ashley Thomas (played by John Middleton) has been suffering from dementia for the last year, but his health is set to deteriorate next week.
Laurel (Charlotte Bellamy) will bring her ailing partner back home where he will die of pneumonia surrounded by his friends and family.
Speaking to this week’s Woman’s Own, actress Charlotte said: “He has pneumonia, but she doesn’t want him to die in hospital where it is clinical and cold.
“She wants him to be at home surrounded by his family and his children, by the pictures around him of his life.
“She doesn’t know how long he has, but she knows that it’s days.”
But she added the heartache of his death could see her relapse and turn to the bottle.
“She’s an alcoholic and she’s off the drink at the moment, but there’s always the possibility that she might wobble.
“Especially with the tragedy that lies ahead.”
