Emmerdale bosses shut down Anthony Quinlan Strictly Come Dancing rumours

It was rumoured the ITV soap star would be paired up with his real-life girlfriend Dianne Buswell who is a professional dancer on Strictly Come Dancing.

But the statement may come as a disappointment for fans of Anthony, who plays Pete Barton on Emmerdale.

“There are no plans for Anthony to do Strictly,” a spokesperson for Emmerdale divulged to Digital Spy.

According to an insider, Dianne, 28, and Anthony, 33, wanted to dance together on the BBC contest.

A TV source told The Sun: “Dianne and Anthony are excited by the prospect of being the first ever couple to dance together on the show.

“Bosses think their real-life chemistry would be a massive draw for viewers and would really rev up the competition.

“Dianne thinks the winning gimmick will guarantee her a place in the professional line-up as she’s still waiting to hear whether not she’s made the cut.

“The only catch is that Anthony still needs to confirm Emmerdale bosses will give him time off set to immerse himself in dance rehearsals.

“He’s hoping that he can convince them it would be great coverage and promotion for the soap as well.”

However, it looks as though those rumours have now been put to bed.

Dianne’s future on the show isn’t certain as the professionals are yet to be named by the show.

She joined the series as a professional dancer last series where she partnered up with the Reverend Richard Coles.

The pair were eliminated in just the third week as their Paso Doble failed to impress.

However, it isn’t clear which professionals will be returning to the show for the next run.

Fans were hit with the shock news that Brendan Cole would not be returning for the 2018 series after he was dropped by bosses, so it appears nobody is safe.

Along with Dianne, favourites Katya Jones, Amy Dowden and Chloe Hewitt could find themselves ousted from the show.

According to a source at The Sun, the whole team are anxiously awaiting their fate.

The insider revealed: “Brendan’s exit was a real shock but he won’t be the only change.

“The four potential dancers are all well liked and it’s just a case of deciding who’s the best fit.”

Emmerdale continues Monday at 7pm, Strictly Come Dancing returns to BBC One later this year.
