Sean stepped down last month after a year in charge of the long-running series, and the actor has since claimed his former co-stars would be thrilled by the news.
“He reminded me of a sort of schoolteacher of a kind of third-rate public school,” he explained.
“That’s not really what you want for the cast of EastEnders.”
Ross went on to claim that the former boss “abused” his powers, adding: “You write it well, you cast it well and you do the right things – and you don’t abuse certain members, i.e. you don’t run them into the f**king ground, which is what happened.”
“The cast are earning more than the executive producers, which makes it a very odd power balance, doesn’t it?” he told The Sun.
Meanwhile, he added that he was pleased that his iconic character Grant Mitchell had not been killed off in the soap.
“It’s great they haven’t killed Grant off,” he noted. “I’m very happy the Mitchell brothers are still alive and hopefully they will ride again at some point.”
Ross’ comments come after the BBC confirmed that Sean would be quitting his role on the series late last month and would be temporarily replaced by John Yorke.
EastEnders denied that he had been axed due to falling rating as well as criticism from viewers over his storylines.
Speaking about his exit, Sean said: “I’ve had an amazing time at EastEnders. Working with the editorial staff, cast and crew at Elstree has been an absolute privilege.
“They are the kindest, most loyal and hard-working team in the business.”
EastEnders continues tonight on BBC One at 8pm.
