But in upcoming episodes, the villain (played by Jake Wood) is set to use her husband Ian (Adam Woodyatt) in a bid to tear down Walford and destruct families in the Square even further.
New teaser images show Ian’s mother Kathy Beale (Gillian Taylforth) concerned for him as he frantically tries to find Jane (Laurie Brett).
With Ian oblivious to the fact Max has orchestrated the whole thing, will he be able to find her?
Ian is now on the hunt for his wife after she made a revealing phone call while leaving the area in a taxi.
Jane left after Max was told by James Wilmott-Brown (William Boyde) that Ian must stay in Walford but that she had to leave.
In order to separate the couple, Max used their son Bobby Beale (Eliot Carington) to blackmail Jane into co-operating.
Crying into her mobile as she left in the back of a black cab, she issued Ian a warning which could signal the end of Max’s plot to ruin the lives of those in Walford.
Jane told Ian: “Oh god, Ian I’m so sorry, I’m so sorry I left like that. I had to fake it.
“It’s going to sound crazy but we were being watched. I don’t know what is going on or who you can trust?
“I’m so paranoid. I will ring you tonight, don’t speak to anyone until I call you. I still love you. I do love you.”
Will Ian work out that Jane’s exit is down to Max? How will he react when he uncovers the truth?
EastEnders continues tomorrow on BBC One at 8pm.
