The Irish TV legend grabbed his co-host’s device and walked away from the ITV set to show viewers a cheeky text from This Morning showbiz reporter Rylan Clark-Neal.
“Look what’s popped up on my wife’s phone,” he gasped, as he ran over to the nearest camera and exposed the text, which read: “Hey baby.”
“Thing is, look who it’s from,” he continued, exposing Rylan as the surprising culprit.
Later though, Eamonn, 57, was forced to apologise for snatching Ruth’s device and flaunting her personal messages on the ITV programme.
“I’m sorry for showing the viewers for showing your phone,” he sighed, though his sympathy was short-lived as he went on to call Ruth “mucky”.
The incident came after Ruth became emotional while talking to Emmerdale star John Middleton, whose character Ashley Thomas will lose his two-year battle with dementia tonight.
The long-suffering vicar will utter his heartbreaking final words to wife Laurel Potts (played by Charlotte Bellamy) in the upcoming instalment as he passes away in tragic scenes.
Ruth is a vocal campaigner for further research into the disease after losing her own father to the illness, and during today’s programme she thanked John for his powerful storytelling.
“I think you and the Emmerdale producers have absolutely done this proud,” Ruth beamed, as she fought back the tears.
This Morning airs weekdays at 10.30am on ITV.
