EA news: Star Wars Battlefront 2, FIFA 17 Winter Upgrades, Mass Effect multiplayer

Star Wars Battlefront 2 is launching later in 2017 and EA have confirmed that it will look to eradicate one of last year’s biggest criticisms of the rebooted title.

The news comes directly from EA themselves, who made the announcement via the official EA Star Wars Twitter account that offline play would be expanded in a big way.

“Our next Star Wars: Battlefront will be taking players into more locations, and allowing them to play with more heroes and characters across multiple Star Wars eras,” the message reads.

“There will be new ways to play, including an all-new singleplayer campaign, and much much more that we are excited to share with our players in the months ahead.”

The original reboot title only boasted content from the original Star Wars films and Rogue One, however, it appears that EA will be going all out to remedy some of the biggest problems in Battlefront 2.

There have been fears raised over how much longer Star Wars Battlefront will be updated by developers DICE.

This subject was raised with Battlefront community manager, Mat Everett, who had this to say on the matter: “Our team is very much looking at recent bug reports and content requests still.

“Support for the current Star Wars: Battlefront is not done. While we will not be bringing more Skirmish content to the game, it doesn’t mean nothing else is coming.”

FIFA 17 fans can expect the first batch of Winter Upgrades to land later this week.

FIFA 17 Winter Upgrades are expected to launch in four separate updates, and while EA Sports is yet to confirm the release date, Ultimate Team UK believes the first update will land on Friday, February 3.

The Winter Upgrades are consistently in form players that have been selected to receive a stat boost by EA Sports.

And based on the latest career mode updates, there are quite a few Premier League players in line for Winter Upgrades, including Diego Costa, Jermaine Defoe and Dele Alli.

FIFA 17 was also revealed to be the biggest-selling console game (worldwide) in 2016, and is on course to be the most popular FIFA game of all time.

EA will potentially have an even better year in 2017, as FIFA comes to the Nintendo Switch.

However, Nintendo Switch fans will be disappointed to hear that the console’s upcoming FIFA game might not be up to scratch.

Reports have suggested that FIFA 18 on Nintendo Switch will be based on the PS3 and Xbox 360 editions.

More has been revealed about the upcoming Mass Effect Andromeda Multiplayer mode and how it will function on PS4, Xbox One and PC.

The highly anticipated space series returns in March and will take players to a whole new Galaxy, where the human race must face off against a deadly new foe.

A large part of its appeal will come from the new multiplayer mode, which is also set to have some kind of beta run before the launch of the game.

We already know that the Strike Team multiplayer in Mass Effect: Andromeda will be a lot more integrated with the main story than previous titles, however, it will still hold a few things in common.

This boils down to BioWare confirming that they will not be using dedicated servers but peer-to-peer, something fans fears can give players an advantage and is more open to exploitation.

This isn’t as much of a concern as the gameplay will differ from Mass Effect 3, however, it’s still something that has been duly noted by fans.

Mass Effect: Andromeda launches on March 21, 2017 in North America and March 23, 2017 in Europe.
